City of Trogir
Trogir is situated in the Central
Dalmacija at the northwest end of the Kaštela'n bay, it lies 25km west of
the city of Split.
It is situated in the area of mild Mediterranean climate and it's one of
the most attractive turist destinations in Croatia.
Trogir has a fascinating 2300 years of continuous urban tradition. Its rich
culture was created under the influence of old Greeks, Romans, and Venetians.
Trogir has a high concentration of palaces, churches, and towers, as well
as a fortress on a small island, and in 1997 was inscribed in the UNESCO
World Heritage List.
Trogir is the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic complex not only in the Adriatic,
but in all of Central Europe. Trogir's medieval core, surrounded by walls,
comprises a preserved castle and tower and a series of dwellings and palaces
from the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods.
Trogir with concentration of palaces, churches, towers, fortress on a small
island in every way deserves it's nickname "THE STONE BEAUTY" You can spend
your evening in Trogir in one of many street coffee bars and in restaurants.
Different types of musical and folklore happenings take place on Trogir's
streets and squares.
